The general criteria to be eligible for funding are:

• You should be a UK/EU citizen
• You should be an undergraduate student currently in the penultimate year of a degree programme
• You should have demonstrated an academic performance to date, preferably at 1st class level
• You should be prepared to take up the award during the summer vacation before your final year

Applications from students in their final year, graduating this summer will not be considered.

In addition it should be noted that research projects undertaken during the ENSURE programme cannot form part of degree work or expeditions.

There are two funding schemes for the ENSURE programme, which have different additional criteria:

• The first funding scheme is the Faculty of Engineering (http://www.lboro.ac.uk/eng/). To be eligible for funding from this source you must meet the following criteria:
  • Undergraduate students in the penultimate year of an Engineering Degree Programme
  • Students will take up the award during the summer vacation before their final year
  • Applications from students in their final year will not be considered
• The second funding scheme is from the Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research Centre (IMCRC http://www.lboro.ac.uk/eng/research/imcrc/). To be eligible for funding from this source you must meet the following criteria:
  • Undergraduates in any year of a degree program related to the research undertaken by the Centre
  • Choose a project supervised by a recognised IMCRC academic (http://www.lboro.ac.uk/eng/research/imcrc/staff.html)
• In addition it should be noted that research projects undertaken during the ENSURE programme cannot form part of degree work or expeditions.
